Sphere.tex tape for winding process and pultrusion

Spheretex introduced successfully its brand new product sphere.tex tape at the “Composites Europe” Show in Dusseldorf, Germany. This newly developed narrow fabric tape is made of a warp of sphere.strand, a glass yarn volumised by thermoplastic microspheres. Glass rovings are used as weft material. In the beginning sphere.tex tape will be available in 10 cm width; other specifications will follow soon.

It is currently available in thicknesses of 1,5 and 2,5 mm. Typical applications are winding process (e.g. for tanks and pipes) as well as pultrusion (e.g. poles). The cured laminate is characterized by higher impact resistance and a reduced weight of the core section. Another important advantage is the reduced processing time of up to -30%
